Get Your RV Ready For the Road

By Nate Coker

If you are an RV lover, then you are biting at the bits to get on the open road in your RV. This is about getting your RV ready for the road.

It all starts with inspecting your RV with a fine tooth comb.

On the inside you want to check everything to make sure it is functioning properly. Check for leaks, in the cabinets, under the beds, in the bath, everywhere.

Check the appliances. They need to be in top working order. Does the refrigerator keep things cold enough? Do all the eyes on the stove top work? What about the air conditioner. Any leaks and does it cool everything down? Are the filters clean?

Carpets need cleaning? Is the furniture in good shape? Any repairs that need to be made now?

Are all the faucets in good shape and not leaking? Washers can be replaced easier right now. If you have a washer and dryer are the connections all secure and ready to use? Ice makers need to be working as well as the microwave in good shape.

Also check out the TV's and disc players and antennas. In fact just live in it a couple of days in your yard before leaving home and make sure it is ready to please.

On the outside check all the lights, the storage areas and the roof condition. Also inspect the tires and make sure they are not suffering from dry rot and are up to date. What about a spare?

Are the windows in top working order? What abut the screens? Any repairs need to be made?

It's a good idea to wash and wax the exterior before hitting the open road for the first time of the season.

Also check out the propane tanks and system to make sure of proper condition and all in working order and ready.

Then it's time to stock it. Stock your closets with comfort clothes and shoes and hats. Make sure the kitchen is stocked with your favorite comfort foods and microwavable treats for a good time.

The bathroom needs to have proper supplies and emergency medicines and bandages for the road. Make sure your chemical supplies for the holding tank are on hand and your cleaning supplies.

After all, this is your home away from home and you want everything at youir fingertips when needed.

Have you stocked up on your favorite movies and games to play? What about some good music for the sound system?

Visit your favorite camping store and get the maps you may need or a book listing all the campsites in the country and get ready to hit the open road.

The life of an RV'er is something. It's all about enjoying the trip. If you've ever done it, you know there is nothing like it. If this is your first time, get ready for a great experience.

That's why now is the time to get your RV ready for the road.
